(This took doing a bit of research since I haven't seen all of Season Seven, but I like what I've seen/heard/read of Liz a lot!)

As part of a plan to rescue the Doctor from an invading alien, Liz learns that the aliens put an emphasis on marriage (it is seen as a kind of symbiotic bond, they travel in pairs and it takes two people to gain access to one of the holding cells aboard their ship). Liz and the Brigadier pretend to be a married couple to rescue the Doctor. Though Liz does consider what might have been if it wasn't entirely pretend.
