First,  I do hope everyone is having a decent weekend.  I have been down at Myrtle Beach since this past Sunday (September 3) and I am coming home tomorrow.  This week has been fun.  Though I didn’t see them a whole lot, it was definitely nice to spend time with my family here.  Weather has been decent - except for today in which there was rain and storms.  I am not sure why, but I find it… weirdly fascinating when it rains at the beach.

Saw a show last night called ICONIC! As someone who (as of late actually more so) has a problem with going out where there’s lots of people, even if it’s just family-  I’m working on it though-  I gotta admit, this was fun.  Essentially a live musical type of show with a variety of music ( country, Classic Rock,  Disney songs,  pop, and even gospel) with a lot of costumes and effects.   Also I got a new squishable plush pillow to add to my ever- growing Plush Squad.  This one is a Yeti.  Needs a name.  :P

Another thing…   where we stayed this week has a Tiki place: a little cafe/ bar where you can get food and drinks by the pool.  I don’t actually drink alcohol but I have discovered some absolutely delicious and … kind of addicting if I’m being honest Mocktails or non-alcohol drinks.  My personal favorite is either the Beach Bum (orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, with a candy shark) or Tiki Punch ( pineapple juice, Sprite, grenadine , in a bucket).  Mmmmmm…. !

What Else Should Go Here?

Fandom Bits-  Well, the Works Reveals for the Just Married Exchange , after what felt like forever of a delay,  were finally opened up this week.  This was actually a very fun and slightly challenging exchange.  It was my first year participating in it and I like the idea ( all prompts are based on Marriage- related tropes , such as accidental marriage, fake married,  Alien Marriage, etc.)  .   It was a good way for me to practice plotting and actually writing a complete story.  I received two (2) gifts. Both are DW- a 5/ Nyssa and 8/Charley.  And as of now, I’ve read one of them.  It was excellent!! Author Reveals are, I think, sometime tomorrow.  As of now, I am unsure if I will participate in next year’s exchange.

Speaking of Doctor Who related things,   I have been following the Once and Future releases from Big Finish.  So far my thoughts are mainly:  Past Lives was okay but forgettable and maybe not the best way to start.  Artist at the End was enjoyable (though call me bias since I love the Fifth Doctor and want more of this particular team-up) and I can see it not being for everyone.   I have yet to finish A Genius for War , but I liked what I heard of it.  It feels more like a regular audio.   Two’s Company is firmly in the “Weird Team” Category ( Sixth Doctor,  Jackie Tyler, Harry Sullivan,  Lady Christina de Souza,  the Renegade) and feels… more than a little unbalanced in places,  but not the worst thing.  And as we draw closer to November,  my expectations for the 60th are pretty simple:  A good one.    That’s it really.

( Packing for a family thing this weekend.  But I've seen other people do these)

Reading- The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  The original book.  I'm only up to the Scarecrow as of now, but so far it's pretty good.  And according to Amazon, I'll apparently also like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?  *adds to list*

Listening-  Doing a relisten to Doctor Who- The Girl Who Never Was.  This is intense and sad and incredible. I went through the Dark Eyes series of box sets recently as well.  Which I do recommend.

Watching- Once Upon a Time (rewatching some episodes.  Last one was in s2.  ) and intermittently watching Hamish MacBeth.

From TV Tropes- " Based loosely on a series of novels by the same name, Hamish Macbeth follows the adventures of the titular character (Robert Carlyle), a constable assigned to the Scottish village of Lochdubh. While Hamish wants nothing more than to go fishing, take walks with his dog, and court his love interest, fate usually intervenes and forces him to actually do his job.

The villagers of Loch Dubh are the usual collection of Eccentric Townsfolk, and include TV John McIver (who claims to have premonitions), Lachlan McCrae (the obligatory get-rich-quick schemer) and his son Lachie Jnr (the obligatory schemer's obligatory useless sidekick), and Doc Brown (the local doctor, who even the eccentric villagers think is a bit odd). "

Yeah I've fallen into the "watching a series because it shares an actor with my fave" .  But what I have seen of this series is ... actually pretty good.  But if I have to point out one thing- I found the series on Tubi ( free streaming service which has a variety of different content) and they put ads in kind of inconvienient points.

As for movies, I recently saw the new Guardians of the Galaxy. And it's awesome! Groot is my favorite guardian and I want to know, where can I get one?

So it's this time of year I guess. :)

So thanks to [personal profile] thisbluespirit reblogging the list, I got curious and decided to try doing Whumptober this year. I do not believe I'm going to complete the whole month (...how do people do these things? :o ) but I do plan on at least doing one of them. Here's the list if anyone is interested or has suggestions/ ideas fro characters/ships for certain ones.
