romanajo123: Belle from the episode The Outsider, Text says "I do love books" (Belle books)
This might come across as a vague question,  but can anyone on here recommend any classic books that are interesting but wouldn't be extremely difficult?

*this comes from trying to read Henry James and having to look up a lot of the words. Yes, I know Context Rules but even in context , I didn't know words like "prodigious," "beatific," or "fortitude" if I'm being honest. :/

Worms? Cats? Is there something other than bookworm? :P

The library here is doing a Winter Reading Bingo. ( I don’t know how to add pictures or I’d post my card) Basically like regular Bingo except you read a book for each square. Things like Fantasy, A Childhood Favorite ( which I’m reading now ),Book with a Green/ Red/ Blue Cover, Graphic novel, By a Local Author, etc.

Only problem is, I may need help or recommendations for a few things.

A Quirky Family
Book “ Everyone “ Has Read
A Strong Female Character
Retelling a classic
Cozy mystery

Well my class in children’s literature/ Writing for Children is almost over ( two more lessons +  final exam) and I’m getting tons and tons of big ideas ( thanks so much [personal profile] shivver  for advice / encouragement!) . Also, I’m discovering how fascinating this kind of literature can be.  Since it’s still not easy to go to a library or bookstore right now, I got plugged into my county’s digital book library. And definitely finding some fun and interesting reads ( while rediscoverOmg a lot of series I read as a kid) . Some examples:

Whatever After series by Sarah Mylnowski ( fun series with unique takes on fairy tales)
Animorphs by K.A. Applegate ( these were big when I was growing up but I never read them. Definitely reading next!)
Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne
Goosebumps by R. L. Stein ( spooky )
Dear America / My Story & American Girl books , various authors ( wonderful historical fiction)

So now I wanna know, what we’re some of your favorite books / authors growing up? Got any recommendations?
