(Note: This is going to be a long entry; partly due to it also being my way of practicing nonfiction writing)
First, let me begin by saying Happy Labor Day to everyone in the US - including myself. I hope you are having a wonderful day and hopefully relaxing.
And now onto the rest of this…
What I Am Reading- It has actually been over a month , I’m sorry to admit, since I have read an actual book. Before that, I did read Burger and Dies (yes, that is the actual title) by Maisy Marple. Something you may not know about me is that for a couple of years now, I have become a fan of cozy mysteries. This author’s in particular. I do not know why, whether it’s the breezy, short length or the plots and usually smaller locales and quirky punny titles, but these are pretty fun to read. This last one was a bit different ( beginning of a new series, protagonist is male and a food vlogger as opposed to normal where it’s a woman who runs a cafe or a reporter) but still enjoyable.
What I’m Reading Next- Apart from binge reading the works of poorobscureplainandlittle over on AO3 , I recently acquired a free copy of the novelization of Frozen. Having not seen the film in its entirety (though oddly enough, it’s the basis for one of my favorite OUAT story arcs), I feel like this could be my introduction before I watch it.
What I Am Listening To- Lately I’ve been going through the Sixth Doctor’s recent audios- the boxsets that began last year with his new team. In order, they are: Water Worlds, Purity Undreamed, Purity Unbound ( honestly my favorite so far), and now Purity Unbound. I do love Six and his current team of Mel and Hebe and the dynamic of the three of them. And this isn’t a spoiler, but I admit that the final story of the second set made me literally cry.
Also, I am currently on a family trip to Myrtle Beach (South Carolina) and found this podcast last week made by LibreVox that’s just reading classic novels. So on my way here , I listened to the first seven chapters of Pride and Prejudice ( not bad but hard to follow and understand), then switched over to Big Finish, then went back and got through the first twelve chapters of Jules Verne ( which I somewhat preferred )
And one more thing- Last night, we had dinner over at my aunt’s house so got to see my uncle, cousin and her two kids (a 6 year old and an almost-toddler), and a few others. The TV was on Finding Dory and Tangled for the kids and this one particular song from the soundtrack (When Will my Life begin) has been stuck in my head all day. :P
What I Am Watching- Apart from rewatching some Doctor Who and OUAT, I watched the ( possibly obscure, hard to tell) pilot special for the ‘90s X-Men cartoon. I have
apachefirecat and
shivver to thank for my curiosity about this series. My opinion is simple: it’s not bad , but it *is* a pilot. But if you can make me care about the main POV character (in this case, Kitty Pryde) in about 30 minutes, you’re doing something right!
What I am Playing- I’ve been playing a LOT of Pokemon Shining Pearl on my Switch lately. It’s a very fun game in a way that’s hard to describe. My first actual Pokemon game (I played GO during its heyday though). If anyone cars or is interested, favorite mons are Piplup, Ponyta, Clefairy, Pachirisu, and Shinx.
What I am Writing- I completed two (2) fics for justmarriedex. Now I am waiting for the Reveals- which as of now are in two days due to some delay. I have two current WIPs- an OUAT one that’s planned and mostly written, but not finished and a DW that’s still in planning. I was saying recently I’m a pantser slowly turning into a planner.
