I'm Done! I'm Really, Finally Done!

Fourteen chapters, 28k words, and two months of my life later, this thing is, indeed, finally complete! Writing it ended up being both a gratifying and a nerve-wracking experience, and I'm definitely still learning interesting things about the process of posting stuff a chapter at a time on this, my second attempt at it. People leaving comments on every chapter with really insightful thoughts about the characters and what's going on in the story? <3 <3 <3 <3 Best thing ever. Wanting to go back and tweak something in a previous chapter but not feeling like I can or should because it's already out there, though? Deeply annoying. I'm definitely going to hope nobody reading this thinks about the thing that suddenly occurred to me while editing the last chapter that I really should have mentioned at least in passing in the previous one. But if they don't, it's no harm, no foul, right?
Anyway, here we go. One Gravity Falls canon-divergence AU fic!
Title: Congratulations on Your Apotheosis

Summary: No amount of torture or bribery will ever get Ford to give up the equation. But when Bill captures the kids and threatens to kill them unless he gets what he wants, what choice does Ford have but to give it to him? And so Ford finds himself with a front-row seat to worldwide Weirdmageddon. But all hope is not lost. Ford may still have a trick up his sleeve yet. In the meantime, though, there will be a few changes...

The prompt was "Deus ex Machina," and I couldn't figure out what to do with it until I realized that this story I'd typed up notes for a while back but never actually written could fit well enough. I mean, there is at least one god. While it might not feature directly in this fic, we all know that a machine meant for a god to come out of is a central part of the backstory. And the ending is definitely intended to come out of nowhere for someone. If Ford's lucky.
